Abstract:
ESDU 08013 provides an empirical method for predicting the wing profile drag coefficient increment due to the deployment of a single slotted flap. The estimate is intended for use within the estimate of the low-speed drag polar of a wing with deflected flap. The estimate includes a lift-dependent component. Comparisons with experimental data demonstrate the accuracy of the method. The method applies to wings of moderate to high aspect ratio and modest sweep.
