Endurance of titanium alloy lugs (Ti-6Al-4V, annealed and Ti-4Al-4Mo-2Sn-0.5Si).
Abstract:
ESDU 77017 gives data for constant-amplitude fatigue tests drawn from mainly unpublished sources. The data are plotted as an alternating stress parameter (involving the stress concentration and the material tensile strength) against endurance. For Ti-6Al-4V three graphs are given, one for lugs without bushes which shows the effect of mean stress, one for lugs without bushes where the material around the hole has been cold-worked, and one for lugs with close-fitted steel bushes. For Ti-4Al-4Mo-2Sn-0.5Si, a graph gives data for lugs with fitted copper alloy bushes. Geometrical details of the test specimens are tabulated.Indexed under:
