Abstract:
ESDU 79018 gives a practical detailed worked example of the application of the equations of motion in ESDU 78038 to determining aircraft point performance using several axis systems. It involves evaluating the lift and drag coefficients of a supersonic cruise aircraft using data obtained from the air-data system, body mounted accelerometers, and the inertial platform system. Alternative calculation procedures are illustrated using each of these data sources. Account is taken of quantities that individually are small but whose collective effect in high-accuracy analysis is significant and, where possible, general expressions are given for such quantities.Indexed under:
