Elastic stress concentration factors. Geometric discontinuities in rods and tubes of isotropic materials.
Abstract:
ESDU 89048 gives graphs of stress concentration factors plotted against appropriate geometric parameters. The data are for circumferential grooves of U- and wide or narrow flat-bottomed section in solid shafts and for diametral holes in solid or hollow shafts, with the shaft under axial loading, tension or torsion, and for fillets at stepped sections on solid or hollow shafts under axial loading or torsion. The data for the fillets and grooves have been extended to much lower radius/outside diameter ratios than those hitherto available by means of finite element analysis.Indexed under:
