ESDU 79013
Heat pipes - properties of common small-pore wicks.
Abstract:
ESDU 79013 is one of a group of five on heat pipe performance. It gives equations for calculating the effective thermal conductivity, minimum capillary radius and permeability of a wide range of wicks for use in capillary-driven heat pipes including single-layer and multiple-layer wire mesh, unconsolidated packed particles and sintered felted metal fibres. ESDU 79012 deals with performance prediction of capillary-driven heat pipes, ESDU 81038 deals with performance prediction of two-phase closed thermosyphons, ESDU 80013 introduces the use of heat pipes and includes practical design experience, and ESDU 80017 gives properties of fluids relevant to heat pipe operation at temperatures of 210 to 570 K.Indexed under:
