ESDU 78027
Equilibrium temperatures in self-contained bearing assemblies. Part II: first approximation to temperature rise.
Abstract:
ESDU 78027 gives an approximate method for estimating the temperature rise, with the likely minimum and maximum bound on it, for a simple self-contained assembly so that an initial decision can be made whether the more refined analysis of ESDU 78028 and 78029 need be followed. To estimate the heat generated, ESDU 78027 assumes the friction in the bearing is known; guidance on the value is provided where no information is available. To estimate the heat dissipation, equations and graphs are given to establish the thermal resistance of the various component parts such as bushes, housings, rotating shafts, and so on. ESDU 79002 gives comprehensive worked examples illustrating the use of the methods of ESDU 78027 to 78029.Indexed under:
