ESDU 70015
Fluid forces and moments on flat plates.

Abstract:
ESDU 70015 gives information on the variation with incidence of the normal forces and centre of pressure positions for thin plates of various shapes. The data are presented in terms of non-dimensional mean force coefficients. Within the accuracy of these data, tangential forces due to surface friction may be neglected at all incidences. For plates normal to the flow, information is also given on the effects of turbulence and Reynolds number and of perforating the plate and, for rectangular plates, the effects of mounting a plate on a surface and of a velocity profile in the flow are considered. The forces on pairs of identical plates, normal to the flow, are also given.Indexed under:
