Pressure losses in valves.
Abstract:
ESDU 69022 gives approximate pressure loss information for single-phase flow through a number of types of shut-off and simple flow control valves. The information is presented in the form of non-dimensional pressure loss coefficients and applies for the flow of liquids and also for the flow of gases at low Mach numbers. The information given is based on both published data and data supplied by a number of valve manufacturers. Valves are classified into types and illustrated schematically in a table which acts as an index to the pressure loss data. Also included are typical size ranges, temperature and pressure limits and examples of the applications of the various types. This latter information is intended only as initial guidance as to the suitability of a valve for a particular duty and the final choice should be considered in conjunction with manufacturers and their literature.Indexed under:
