ESDU 22002
Rooke and Cartwright's compendium of stress intensity factors
Abstract:
ESDU 22002 is a copy of the Compendium of Stress Intensity Factors by D. P. Rooke and D. J. Cartwright published in 1976 and it is a thorough review of validated linear stress intensity factor data owing to cracking which was available at that time. The data presented in this Item have been separated into sections which cover stress intensity factors in loaded flat sheets, stiffened sheets, discs, tubes and bars, three dimensional joints, and thin cylindrical and spherical shells. The data are given as easy to use figures, and the associated equations, sketches and standard notation used throughout are clear and concise. This Item is suitable for use by design engineers and by those who require an understanding of the effect loading on the reliability of structures that may develop cracks during their lifetime. In the field of stress intensity factor analysis, ESDU 22002 compliments the more up-to-date analytical and numerical methods techniques that are currently in use such as finite element analysis.
