Vapour pressures and critical points of liquids: Halogenated alkylbenzenes and halogenated styrenes.
Abstract:
(Scanned original)ESDU 99007 presents vapour pressure data obtained by a critical evaluation of experimental results in the literature for 43 halogenated alkylbenzenes and 4 halogenated styrenes.. The data available were limited but the equations developed for the polyfluoro compounds were consistent with criteria established in other ESDU documents for the alkanes and other families of chemical substances. These criteria were then used to establish vapour pressure equations for the remaining compounds for which the data were scarce or non-existent. The Wagner equation was used over a wide temperature range, from close to the melting point to about 0.9 of the critical temperature (or higher when appropriate). The coefficients of the equation are given and two tables of vapour pressure calculated by using them are included: in SI units at 10 K intervals and in bars at 10 degree Celsius intervals. A table in SI units also gives the saturation temperature at various specified pressures and indicates the possible uncertainty in the calculated values. Also given are values of the acentric factor, normal melting and boiling points, and the slope of the saturation temperature versus vapour pressure curve at the normal boiling point. The sources of data for each compound are listed. Density data for the compounds appear in ESDU 99008, and the choice of critical point values gave the best correlations for both vapour pressure and saturated liquid density.
