ESDU 72019
Buckling of flat isotropic plates under uniaxial and biaxial loading.
Abstract:
ESDU 72019 gives the elastic buckling stress under longitudinal compression of a plate with edge conditions: (1) short sides simplysupported and long sides simplysupported, clamped or elastically restrained laterally and/or in rotation, (2) short sides simplysupported and one long side free while the other is either clamped or simplysupported, (3) short sides clamped and long sides either clamped or simplysupported. The elastic buckling stress is also given under biaxial compression with edge conditions: (1) short sides simplysupported and long sides either clamped or simplysupported, (2) short sides clamped and long sides either clamped or simplysupported. Data are given to correct the buckling stress for the effects of plasticity.
