ESDU 84021
Vapour pressures and critical points of liquids. Introduction to Data Items issued after September 1984.
Abstract:
(Scanned original)ESDU 84021 introduces the vapour pressure data in the Series by explaining how a constrained Wagner equation is used to fit available experimental results drawn from the literature. The constraints ensure that the vapour pressure curve, derived over the whole liquid range from the freezing point, has certain well established characteristics. The technique used to fit the data is discussed, and the method by which values of critical pressure and temperature are determined is explained. A bibliography and a table of conversion factors for common units of pressure are included. Well established vapour pressure data are required for the design of efficient distillation columns, liquefaction plant, and reactors and for environmental control of the concentration of waste products in the atmosphere.
