ESDU 78020
Local buckling and crippling of I, Z and channel section struts.
Abstract:
ESDU 78020 gives two graphs, one for the local buckling stress for I-section struts and one for the local buckling stress of channel- and Z-section struts. The buckling stress is a function of the section width/height ratio and of the flange thickness/web thickness ratio. Curves are superimposed on both graphs to enable the buckle wavelength to be estimated. Where the buckling stress is above the limit of proportionality of the material, plasticity correction factors are given to correct the results.Indexed under:
